From AudioFile Magazine

Marjorie K. Rawlings's classic novel of a boy's coming of age in the Florida wilderness is here performed by Stechschulte. His deep, resonant voice moves at a slow pace, which evokes the natural setting. My son was especially thrilled by the storm scene. His characterizations are credible. Penny and Jody are believable; the female characters are more of a challenge. Overall, this is an adequate reading of this classic. M.T.F. (c) AudioFile 2000, Portland, Maine
