Book Description
for A Particular Cow by Mem Fox and Terry Denton
From The United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY)
On a particular Saturday walk, a particular cow runs into a clothesline and ends up with a pair of bloomers covering her eyes. The result is a series of wacky misadventures for the cow and a lot of people, including a particular bridegroom, a particular bride, and a particular gang of sailors. The repeti tive use of the word particular adds to the fun, but it is Denton’s comic black ink and watercolor illustrations that provide the details that make this a particularly silly and engaging tall tale. Mem Fox’s honors and awards include the Dromkeen Medal in 1990 for distinguished service to children’s literature in Australia. ca, hc
