Book Descriptions
for Afro-Bets ABC by Cheryl Willis Hudson
From Cooperative Children's Book Center (CCBC)
Six active Afro-American children are pictured playing on the alphabet pages. Cartoon images are sometimes typical (balloon, keys, pencil) and sometimes culturally specific (Africa, cornrows, Kente cloth, Nefertiti.) A lightshearted spirit is predominant. (Ages 2-7)

From the Publisher
The Afro-Bets ABC book presents letters A to Z for young children to discover with the Afro-Bets kids. The characters form letters of the alphabet, with each letter reinforced by words and pictures. The book aims to stimulate early learning experiences through positive, meaningful images - especially relevant to black youngsters.
