Book Description
for Stanley at Sea by Linda Bailey and Bill Slavin
From The United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY)
Rejected by his human family while they enjoy a picnic meal, Stanley wanders away and forges an alliance with his hungry dog friends. Their hunt for food leads them to a ham sandwich on a boat, but it is only a one-dog meal. While the dogs quarrel over the food, the boat breaks free, and they are soon surrounded by the sea. Their surprise rescue includes an enormous meal of steaks and sausages and a safe trip back home. dgw
