Celebrated in this picture book for older grades are men from different countries and backgrounds who, in their various fields, have changed the world through peaceful means. A full page is devoted to providing basic information on how each man has made a contribution for change and has helped others, whether, for example, through filmmaking (Akira Kurowasa), sports (Greg Louganis, Pelé), arts (Langston Hughes, Rudolph Nureyev), sci ences (Ivan Pavlov, Jacques-Yves Cousteau), or social and political activism (Badshah Khan, Cesar Chavez). An accompanying illustration in “mixed media” represents each man embedded in a design that symbolizes his work.
